Who we are

Founded in 2009, by designers Ben Wright and Paul Stafford, DesignStudio is a global brand and design agency with offices in the creative hubs of London and San Francisco.

Ben and Paul opened the agency after spotting a split in the creative industry. Studios were either boutique and beautiful, but only managing to work on a few projects or of a massive scale and impersonal with their client relationships. DesignStudio was created with the aim to fill this gap – delivering the quality of boutique, bespoke design to global brands and audiences.

What we do

Brands approach DesignStudio as they recognise the value of being design-led in the global economy. Our ideas and creativity help our clients live across different platforms. And they’re always ideas we can deliver. Rebrands, graphic design, film, photography and artwork, 3D, animation. All led by creative. All equally strong.

By applying creative, critical thinking to these different channels, we change people’s perceptions and create the brands of the future.

Paul Stafford
Founding Partner

Paul co-founded DesignStudio to offer clients beautifully crafted design on a worldwide scale. He has worked with some of the country’s top design agencies, producing award-winning work including branding solutions, guidelines and global design assets for clients including Nokia Siemens Networks and Swisscom.

Ben Wright
Founding Partner

Ben co-founded DesignStudio to bring together creative and production across multiple disciplines under one agency, combining innovative idea generation with expert execution. He has also worked at a number of leading design studios, establishing long term relationships as well as producing work for clients including Channel 4, Nike and Eurostar.

Ian Styles
Executive Creative Director, London

With nearly 20 years of experience in the industry, Ian has built a reputation for the quality of his work, and transforming the agencies he works for. As well as forming his own studio, he has worked for some of London’s leading consultancies and loves the power of a simple idea to create and regenerate brands across any media. At DesignStudio he mentors the design team and ensures that innovation drives the work.

James Greenfield
Executive Creative Director, London

James has worked at some of London’s leading studios with some of the world’s biggest brands including Microsoft, MTV, Nike and Getty Images. He has rebranded a number of large organisations and worked in various disciplines including brand, interiors and digital across a number of sectors. His central role at DesignStudio is engaging and empowering brands in the nuances of the aesthetic experience.

John Creson
Principal, San Francisco

John has a broad range of experience having worked with brands including Adobe, Intel and Visa. He is an influential figure within the Bay area design scene and is a board member for both the AIGA and Sustainable brands. At DesignStudio John aims to spearhead DesignStudio’s San Francisco expansion.

Chris Hacking
Head of Production, London

Chris joined DesignStudio from Apple where he oversaw motion graphics and video across their successful product range. At DesignStudio he combines this knowledge with his prior experience in television and retail marketing, understanding the complexities of delivering creativity across multiple touch points.

Press and accomplishments

Over the years we’ve been featured in many books and magazines, picking up some awards along the way.

Amongst others, our work has been picked up by Design Week, Creative Review, Eye Magazine, It’s Nice That, Process Journal, and we guest edited an entire section of Computer Arts Magazine.

Our work for Centrefold Magazine won a Grafik Star and we gained D&AD in-book status for our Royal Mint King James Bible £2 project.

Studio music

Music plays a key role in our studio and we strive to discover new and interesting sounds that we feel could work as the soundtrack to our latest work film or simply keep us humming throughout the day.

Each week we publish DesignStudio FM – a Spotify playlist of the tracks that are currently gracing the studio sound system.
