We are proud to announce that we have won a Grafik Design award for our design of Centrefold Magazine Issue Four. The award comes in the form of one of ten Grafik 'Stars' awarded to new and established design studios and individuals, judged by renowned designers including Wim Crouwel, Peter Saville and Phil Baines.

Here's an internal project we're currently working on with John Nussey. Beyond the initial stages of some increasingly confusing technical and electrical wizardry, we're eventually going to end up with a wall-mounted display able to display various web-based feeds.

Rich took a trip down to South Bank recently and, with empty pockets, photographed a plethora of classic Penguin/Pelican and similar books. We've long regarded the designs of these books inspirational, so we've dug out a few resources showcasing some of the best. First of all, view the collection found at the South Bank book stalls here (apologies for the poor iPhone photo quality). Another nice collection on Flickr courtesy of Acejet170, and some from Mr Bingo. The Art of Penguin Science Fiction features hundreds of sci-fi related designs, well worth a look. Finally, we can't recommend these books enough: 700 Hundred Penguins and Penguin by Design: A Cover Story by Phil Baines.

Wolsey Infant School

We've been working on a prospectus for Wolsey Infant School and Nursery, Croydon – here's some select shots from the photoshoot we did a few months ago. Working again with photographer Adam Laycock, the completely open brief allowed us to capture a typical 'day in the life' at the school, from a completely natural and uncontrived perspective. While the New Addington area of Croydon isn't the most glamourous of places, there's a wonderful charm about the school and the pupils were admirably well-behaved (providing they weren't still on a sugar high from breakfast).

In the spirit of this week's 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, we've been awe-struck by the fascinating albeit little-known process of how the launch pad fuel tanks are transported. This site shows the whole process. It's just amazing to consider the scale of the operation as well as the physical scale of the equipment involved. It's hard to image that the entire fuel tank is flipped in mid-air, then transported 3.5 miles over 6-8 hours after the shuttle and rockets are attached to it.

This is modern engineering and physics at its very best, yet the photos make everything seem almost like model toys. (Apologies for the image quality, we've taken them from the site above).
